About Volunteering
The Animal Aid maintains a large body of Volunteers. In the Cattery there is only one staff member at any given time. Hence a large number of volunteers help with the day to day running of the Cattery. We continually need new helpers to buddy up with the other volunteers to reduce the work load.
With the kitten season upon us the Cattery is a hive of activity. We will see somewhere in the area of 900 kittens come though the shelter. Cleaners, groomers, ticklers ,dishwashers etc, etc, are needed. If you can help...
Please contact Karen Blizzard (Volunteer Coordinator) on the Animal Aid direct phone number 03-9739-0300, She will be more than happy to take your call.
If you can spare a couple of hours once a week we can do with your help,Friday and Saturdays are in desperate need of help!!!
FOSTER PARENTS NEEDED
During the Kitten season we are on the look out for new foster parents happy to take in some of the young kittens not able to be re-homed because of their age, weight or temperament.
Foster parents can be helpful for the following cases: A single kitten comes in at 2 weeks of age unable to feed itself and in need of bottle feeding, a single or litter of kittens simply underweight for de-sexing and need to have some weight put on, kittens who have some temperament issues (i.e timid, anti-social) and also kittens with a mum that come through our doors which need a home until the they are weaned and of a weight and age to be de-sexed.
Anyone with the right understanding and time to be a foster parent, can contact the Animal Aid Cattery via our direct line or send an email, as we will be more than happy to answer any of your questions about our program. Email cattery@vaat.org.au
